We are a friendly family run Flying School & Aero Club with many years of experience in flight training, we are based at Carlisle Airport in Cumbria, UKand can offer the following courses: EASA-PPL(A) with SEP(L) class ratingThe European Aviation Safety Agency - Private Pilot´s Licence (Aeroplanes) is normally issued with a Single-Engine Piston (Landplane) class rating. EASA-LAPL(A)The EASA Light Aircraft Pilot´s Licence, has a shorter course than the PPL, less stringent medical requirements,but also has some restrictions. You cannot carry passengers for the first 10 hours, maximum 4 people in the aircraft and maximum weight of 2000kg. Only recognised in EASA countries. UK NPPL(A) with SSEA class ratingThe UK National Private Pilot´s Licence with Simple Single-Engine Aircraft class rating Has the advantage of only requiring that you meet the UK DVLA car driving medical standards and being a shorter course than the PPL. It is only recognised in the British Isles (and France with conditions), after April 2015, cannot be used to be PIC of EASA aircraft, but still okay for those withLAA and CAA national permits to fly. IMC RatingThe UK Instrument Meteorological Conditions Rating, is a 15 hour course and allows flight in cloud and instrument approaches in class D-G UK airspace. If added to an EASA licence it will be called an IR(R) - Instrument Rating (Restricted). Night RatingA 5 hour course which removes the daytime only restriction from your PPL or LAPL. Differences TrainingExtra Training to operate, VP/CS Propellers, Retractable Undercarriage, Turbo/Superchargers, Glass (EFIS) Cockpits, Single Power Lever (FADEC), Tailwheels.Advanced Nav, using VOR/DME/ADF/VDF/GPS rather than landmarks. AOPA Flying CompanionA safety or co-pilot course for those who fly regularly as a passenger. Please see our website for more details.
